The upcoming fishing-themed anime Negative Positive Angler has revealed a main trailer, key visual, and an official premiere date set for October 3 (JST). The trailer also features previews of the newly announced theme songs: “Ito” by Van de Shop for the opening and “Shounin Yokkyuu” by 96Neko for the ending.
The story follows Tsunehiro Sasaki, a university student burdened by debt with only two years left to live. While trying to escape from debt collectors, he accidentally falls into the ocean and is rescued by two fishing enthusiasts, Hana Ayukawa and Takaaki Tsutsujimori. Encouraged by Hana, Tsunehiro gives fishing a try and also begins working part-time at the convenience store where both Hana and Takaaki are employed.
The anime boasts a talented staff, with Yutaka Uemura (The Saga of Tanya the Evil, Punch Line) directing, and Tomohiro Suzuki (Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End) handling series composition and screenplay. Hiromi Taniguchi, co-character designer of The Saga of Tanya the Evil and The Gymnastics Samurai, serves as the character designer and chief animation director. Yusei Nagashima is credited as the fish artist, while NUT will handle animation production.
The main cast includes Mutsuki Iwanaka as Tsunehiro Sasaki, Fairouz Ai as Hana Ayukawa, and Kaito Ishikawa as Takaaki Tsutsujimori.
