In Satisfactory, players can craft various equippable items, including the parachute, which is unlocked through the Mycelia research tree in the MAM. The parachute allows you to slow your falling speed and move forward quickly, helping you avoid fall damage and reach distant locations that might otherwise be inaccessible. Even though the jetpack becomes available later, a unique exploit keeps the parachute useful.
How to Unlock the Parachute

To unlock the parachute, you need to complete three research nodes in the Mycelia tree:
- Mycelia: Requires 5 Mycelia.
- Fabric: Requires 25 Mycelia and 100 Biomass.
- Parachute: Requires 10 Fabric and 50 Cable.
Mycelia can be collected from giant mushrooms and fungi using the chainsaw. These resources can be found in areas like caves and the grasslands starting location. Once unlocked, you can craft the parachute at the Equipment Workshop using:
- 20 Fabric
- 10 Cables
How to Use the Parachute
To use the parachute, equip it in your character’s back slot through the inventory screen. Jump from a height and hold down the jump button (default: Space) to deploy the parachute. Release the jump button to maintain a slow descent. You can press the crouch button (default: C) to fall quickly or press jump again to redeploy the parachute before landing.
While descending, you can move in all directions, and even gain a speed boost when moving forward. Control is trickier than on the ground, but still manageable.
Parachute Exploit
A special exploit allows you to gain altitude using the parachute. If you move forward at full speed and hit a ramp, the parachute can lift you upwards instead of landing. This allows you to reach high areas that even the jetpack can’t access. Although this exploit was reduced in the 1.0 release, it still works on certain surfaces like the four-meter foundation ramp and some cliff sides. It’s a fun and creative way to explore the map and reach new heights.
