Medaka Kuroiwa Is Immune to My Charms”Reveals New Key Visual

The upcoming anime Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms has unveiled a new key visual, along with a special visual featuring the five main heroines in a classroom setting. This special visual marks the end of a multi-month promotional campaign, which started with a focus on the main character, Mona. Additional characters were gradually introduced through individual character trailers, with Minami Shirahama, voiced by Kaori Maeda, completing the ensemble.

The anime also announced a pre-screening and cast talk show scheduled for December 7, 2024, at United Cinema Toyosu, with the official premiere slated for January 2025. Crunchyroll had previously confirmed the premiere window.

Based on the romantic comedy manga by Ran Kuze, Medaka Kuroiwa Is Impervious to My Charms debuted as a one-shot in 2020 and began serialization in Weekly Shonen Magazine in 2021. The manga currently has 16 volumes as of October 2024.

The story follows Mona, the most popular and self-assured girl in school, who is determined to win the heart of the stoic Medaka Kuroiwa. Despite her best efforts, Medaka remains unimpressed, much to Mona’s frustration. Medaka, who was raised in a temple and taught to avoid close relationships with women, is equally resolute in resisting Mona’s charms. Their humorous and heated battle of wills unfolds as Mona refuses to back down.

The anime staff includes director Yoshiaki Okumura (The Fruit of Evolution), series composer Kazuyuki Fudeyasu (Shangri-La Frontier), character designer Mayumi Watanabe (Too Cute Crisis), and music composer Akiyuki Tateyama (Laid-Back Camp). The cast includes Ryota Iwasaki as Medaka Kuroiwa, Yu Serizawa as Mona Kawai, and Sora Amamiya as Asahi Shonan, among others. The anime is produced by SynergySP.
