The upcoming Sakamoto Days anime adaptation has released its main trailer, showcasing intense assassin battles set to the theme song “Hashire SAKAMOTO” by Vaundy. The action-comedy series, based on Yuto Suzuki’s manga, has also unveiled a new key visual and confirmed its premiere date: January 11, 2025 (JST). The anime will be released in two parts, with the second cour scheduled for July 2025.
Sakamoto Days first appeared in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2020 and has gained significant popularity, reaching 19 volumes by November 2024. The story follows Sakamoto, a former top assassin who left the underworld to live a peaceful life running a small shop with his wife and child. However, his past catches up with him when a figure from his assassin days gives him an ultimatum: return to the world of assassins or face death. This sets the stage for a high-stakes blend of action and comedy.
The anime will stream on Netflix globally, with episodes released weekly. The series is directed by Masaki Watanabe (Bakumatsu), written by Taku Kishimoto (Blue Lock), and features character designs by Yo Moriyama (Megalo Box). The animation is produced by TMS Entertainment.
