A startling glitch in the highly anticipated game Starfield has recently emerged on the internet, leaving players both awestruck and alarmed. This peculiar bug showcases an NPC (non-playable character) in the game that has been transformed into a nightmarish creature, raising concerns about potential issues that may plague the game upon its release.

Bethesda, the renowned game developer behind Starfield, has a history of producing open-world games celebrated for their immersive environments, intricate quests, and engaging narratives. However, Bethesda’s games have also gained notoriety for the multitude of bugs and glitches that accompany their initial releases, often persisting for years. Fans have come to expect these issues as part of the Bethesda gaming experience, albeit reluctantly.
A Reddit user going by the handle OkGuide2802 shared one of the earliest recorded Starfield glitches featuring an NPC with a grotesque appearance. The most unsettling aspect of this bug is the NPC’s upside-down head and blank, forward-facing stare. Additionally, a significant portion of the NPC’s upper body, including their right arm, is inexplicably absent, lending an even more eerie quality to the image. The NPC appears to be in a running pose, with its left arm curled and left leg kicked outward.

Several months ago, Matt Booty, the head of Microsoft Studios, made a bold claim that Starfield would boast fewer bugs than any previous Bethesda game. While it is too early to definitively assess this assertion, the appearance of this disfigured NPC has raised concerns. However, it is important to note that this glitch might be an isolated incident, affecting only a limited number of players. The game’s consistent 30 frames per second lock on the Xbox Series X/S may potentially mitigate major issues.
Despite the unsettling nature of this particular glitch, most Starfield players have not encountered similarly horrifying bugs. Some players have reported minor anomalies, such as briefly seeing through objects, but generally, their experiences have been positive. While the glitched NPC raises concerns, there remains hope that Starfield might break the cycle of Bethesda’s bug-ridden game releases. Only time will tell whether the game lives up to its promise of being a smoother, less glitch-riddled experience for players.
