Lies Of P: Understanding Weight and Encumbrance Mechanics

In the challenging world of “Lies of P,” mastering combat and exploration are top priorities. However, an often overlooked aspect of the game that can significantly impact your performance is the weight management system. Much like other soulslike titles, Lies of P employs a weight and encumbrance system that influences your character’s abilities and effectiveness in combat.

How Does Weight Work?

Understanding the weight system in Lies of P is crucial for optimizing your gameplay. Unlike traditional RPGs, where your inventory size limits your item carrying capacity, in Lies of P, it’s all about the weight of your equipment.

Your character can equip various gear, including weapons, amulets, and defense parts. Each piece of equipment has an associated weight value. When you equip items, their weights accumulate to determine your total weight. This total weight plays a pivotal role in defining your character’s mobility and combat capabilities.

Here’s how the weight system is categorized:

  1. Slightly Heavy (60% or below): When your total weight remains within this range, your character will experience only slight reductions in movement speed, attack speed, and dodge responsiveness. This stage has a relatively minor impact on gameplay.
  2. Heavy (80% or below): As your total weight crosses the 80% threshold, your character becomes notably heavier. Attacks slow down, movement speed decreases, and dodges become less effective. You’ll also notice screen shaking during dodges.
  3. Very Heavy (100% or above): This is the tipping point where your character becomes extremely encumbered. You can no longer run, attacks are significantly slower, and dodging is excruciatingly sluggish. The game becomes nearly unplayable in this state.

How to Increase Weight Limit?

The stat that governs your weight limit is known as Capacity. To prevent reaching the heavy and very heavy stages, you should aim to increase your Capacity. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Visit Sophia at Hotel Krat (post-reach): If you’ve progressed in the game and reached Hotel Krat, you can enhance your stats, including Capacity, by talking to Sophia. Investing Ergo in Capacity will grant you a more substantial weight limit.
  2. Level Up at Stargazers (pre-reach): Before you reach Hotel Krat, you can still level up your Capacity by using any Stargazer. Simply access the Level Up menu, navigate to Capacity, and invest your available Ergo to increase your weight limit.

By effectively managing your character’s weight, you can maintain optimal mobility and combat prowess in Lies of P, ensuring a smoother and more enjoyable gaming experience.
