Nintendo has introduced a unique physical release for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe in Japan. Unlike the typical DLC download code bundles offered in the West, this Japanese physical release combines the base game and the Booster Course Pass (which includes Waves 1-5) on a single game card. Players will only need to download additional data for Wave 6 when it becomes available in Winter 2023.
The package, described on Amazon, includes the Nintendo Switch software for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe along with the “Course Add-on Pass” on one game card. The download requirement is limited to the 6th course within the “Course Add-on Pass.”

In contrast, Western regions offer a different physical deal, which consists of a DLC download code without the base game or a Switch game card. However, players in these regions will receive additional bonuses like a sticker sheet and pins.
This unique physical release approach in Japan provides players with the convenience of having both the base game and DLC content on a single game card, making it a more streamlined option for fans of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
