CD Projekt Red Honors Ken Block with Touching Tribute in Cyberpunk 2077’s 2.0 Update

The 2.0 version of Cyberpunk 2077 has surprised fans with an exceptional tribute to the late rally driver, Ken Block, who tragically passed away earlier this year. CD Projekt Red, the developer behind Cyberpunk 2077, included this heartfelt Easter egg as part of the comprehensive 2.0 update released on September 21.

Ken Block, known for his remarkable rally racing career and as the owner of Hoonigan Industries, a California-based automotive apparel and media company, left an indelible mark on the world of motorsports and gaming collaborations. In honor of his legacy, CD Projekt Red introduced a Cyberpunk 2077 car heavily inspired by Block’s iconic Hoonigan Ford “Hoonicorn” Mustang RTR.

While not an exact replica due to licensing constraints, the Cyberpunk 2077 vehicle, known as the Type 66 Hoon, bears a striking resemblance to the Hoonicorn. It features a similar black-green color scheme, chassis shape, and prominently displayed “43” sticker representing Block’s car number. Additionally, the vehicle is adorned with “K.B. 67-23,” signifying Block’s birth and death years.

Players can find the Type 66 Hoon in a Northside warehouse during the Epistrophy side quest, and it is now permanently available following the 2.0 update.

Notably, this tribute in Cyberpunk 2077 is the first by a game developer to honor Ken Block since Forza Horizon 5 paid tribute to him in January with Hoonigan-branded equipment and a drivable version of the Hoonicorn. The Type 66 Hoon is the eighth variant of the Quadra Type-66 vehicle available in the game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is accessible on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with the 2.0 update exclusive to PC and current-generation consoles. This homage to Ken Block adds a touching and meaningful element to the Cyberpunk 2077 experience, celebrating the life and contributions of a motorsport legend.
