Anime ‘Kingdom’ Announces New Series Premiere Date, Voice Cast, and Visual

The official website for the anime adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara’s manga “Kingdom” has made several key announcements. This includes the release of the second key visual titled “SIDE Kan Ki Gun” or “SIDE Kan Ki Army,” the unveiling of the voice cast for the Kan Ki Army characters, and the confirmation of the anime’s fifth series premiere date, scheduled for January 6.

The cast members for the Kanki Army are as follows:

  • Kentaro Ito as Kan Ki/Huan Yi
  • Haruka Nagamine as Koku’ou
  • Kenji Nomura as Raido
  • Motoki Sakuma as Ma Ron/Mo Lun

The fifth series of the anime is set to debut on the NHK General channel on January 6 at 24:00 JST, effectively airing on January 7 at midnight JST.

The fourth series of the anime had its premiere on NHK General in April 2022, with Crunchyroll streaming it as it aired.

“Kingdom” first had a television anime adaptation in 2012, followed by a second series in 2013. Both series were streamed in North America by Funimation and later released on DVD in 2016. The third series launched in April 2020 but faced a hiatus after four episodes due to COVID-19. It eventually resumed airing in April 2021, restarting from the first episode. Funimation also streamed this series as it aired in Japan.

Yasuhisa Hara’s historical manga “Kingdom” revolves around Xin, a slave boy with aspirations of becoming a great general for the state of Qin. Xin assists Ying Zheng, the young Qin king who shares his ambition to unify China and ascend to power within the state. Xin’s journey involves striving to become a skilled army commander capable of defeating the Seven Warring States.

This record-breaking manga first premiered in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine in 2006.
