Kadokawa has unveiled exciting details about the upcoming second season of “The Eminence in Shadow” anime adaptation. The official announcement includes the revelation that Shadow Garden Numbers, a musical group consisting of Ikumi Hasegawa, Maaya Uchida, Mayu Minami, and Ryōko Maekawa, will be performing the ending theme song titled “Polaris in the Night” for the series.

The second season of “The Eminence in Shadow” is scheduled to premiere on October 4 at 10:30 p.m. JST on AT-X, followed by broadcasts on other networks. Fans can look forward to a total of 12 episodes in this new season. HIDIVE will be streaming the anime, and what’s even more exciting is that an English dub will be available on the same day as the Japanese premiere.
The anime will also feature the return of the music duo OxT, known for their energetic performances. They will once again contribute to the series by performing the opening theme song, which is titled “grayscale dominator.”
For those unfamiliar with the series, “The Eminence in Shadow” follows the story of Cid, a protagonist who aspires to operate in the shadows and manipulate society using his wit and cleverness. However, his vivid imagination leads him to create an imaginary organization known as Shadow Garden to combat a menacing cult. The twist comes when Cid realizes that the cult he fabricated actually exists.
The anime is directed by Kazuya Nakanishi at Nexus, with character designs adapted by Makoto Iino. Kanichi Katou oversees the series scripts, and Kenichiro Suehiro is responsible for the music.
Both the light novels and manga adaptation of “The Eminence in Shadow” have been licensed by Yen Press. The story originally began as a web novel on the “Shōsetsuka ni Narō” website in May 2018 before being published in physical volumes by Kadokawa, with art by Tōzai, starting in November 2018.
In addition to the main series, a spinoff manga titled “Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! Shadow Gaiden” (The Eminence in Shadow – Shadow Side Story) by Seta U was serialized in Kadokawa’s Comp Ace magazine starting in July 2019. The series also inspired the “The Eminence in Shadow: Master of Garden” game, which was released for iOS, Android, and PC in November 2022, with an English release by Crunchyroll Games.
