The highly-anticipated supernatural anime series “Dark Gathering” is preparing for the launch of its second cour, scheduled to debut in Japan on October 1 (effectively October 2 at 1:05 AM JST). The initial cour of this captivating series made its premiere on July 9 (effectively July 10 at 1:05 AM JST) in Japan, and it has been made available for streaming on various platforms including HIDIVIE, Prime Video, Muse Asia, and iQIYI for international audiences.
“Dark Gathering” is adapted from a manga published by Shueisha, created by Kenichi Kondou, and serialized in Jump Square since 2019. As of August 2023, the manga has amassed 13 tankoubon volumes.
The storyline revolves around Keitaro, who takes on a part-time job tutoring the gifted child prodigy Yayoi. Unbeknownst to him, Yayoi is a talented medium on a relentless quest to uncover the truth behind her mother’s disappearance, and she’s determined to pull Keitaro into the eerie and supernatural realm she navigates.

This OLM-produced anime, led by Hiroshi Ikehata, acclaimed for his work on “Tonikawa: Over The Moon For You,” is generating excitement among anime enthusiasts. Shigeru Murakoshi serves as the series composer, while Shinya Segawa, known for “Garakowa – Restore the World,” takes on the role of main character designer. The musical score for the series is composed by KOHTA YAMAMOTO, Shun Narita, and Yuusuke Seo.
