If you’re eager to dive into the world of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, this paid expansion offers an exciting journey that takes your character, V, to the chaotic streets of Dogtown, controlled by a disgruntled colonel and his mercenaries. Fortunately, there are multiple paths to begin this thrilling adventure. Our guide outlines how to initiate the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion and provides insights into various starting options. Please note that this article contains minor spoilers.
How to Initiate the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty Expansion

You can start your next chapter in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty through various methods, including:
1. Jumping directly into the Phantom Liberty storyline.
2. Completing the Transmission main quest.
3. Loading a previous save file where you’ve finished the Transmission quest.
Commencing a New Game and Beginning with Phantom Liberty

One way to embark on the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion is by starting a new game and selecting “Skip Ahead to Phantom Liberty” from the main menu. This option allows you to customize your main character, with automatic attribute allocation (modifiable later).
However, choosing this option skips the preceding storyline, where you learn about V’s background and meet their old acquaintances. Additionally, you miss out on valuable worldbuilding about Night City. As such, we don’t recommend this choice for newcomers.
Completing the Transmission Main Quest

To access Phantom Liberty’s campaign, you must complete the main quest known as “Transmission.” You can achieve this whether you’re starting a new game or already progressing through the campaign but haven’t reached this point yet.
The Transmission quest involves visiting Pacifica and interacting with the Voodoo Boys gang, along with meeting characters like Placide and Brigitte. Once you finish Transmission, you’ll receive a call from a character named Songbird, who suggests a way to aid V.
Loading an Old Save File After Completing Transmission

Players who have already made significant progress in the base game, including completing the Transmission main quest, can also access Phantom Liberty. For example, if you have a save file at the point of no return (Nocturne Op55N1), load that save, have V sleep in their apartment, and upon waking up, you’ll receive a call from Songbird.
It’s important to note that veteran players returning to the game after a break may find various changes due to Update 2.0. Thankfully, adapting to these new mechanics and features is straightforward, and you can also reallocate your perk points as needed.
Regardless of the method you choose to initiate the Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty expansion, the call from Songbird will lead you to the “Dog Eat Dog” mission. This mission takes you into Dogtown, a walled-off section of Pacifica, where you’ll engage in a high-stakes game of espionage.
