Larian Studios acknowledges the presence of a shared stash bug in Baldur’s Gate 3, which has left players grappling with inventory woes when dismissing companions. While they promise to address this issue in a future update, they haven’t provided a specific timeframe.
In the latest patch notes for the game’s seventh hotfix, the developers express their gratitude for player feedback and assure the community that they are actively working on resolving reported issues. Specifically, they mention the problem of shared items when dismissing companions and confirm their awareness of it.

This issue stems from a combination of a new feature introduced in Patch 3 and an unintended bug. When you dismiss a companion, their story-relevant items are supposed to be transferred to your inventory as part of the design. However, the bug causes these companions to unload additional items like alchemy pouches, camp supply sacks, and keychains, which was not intended.
For some players, this bug has significantly impacted their gameplay experience, leading them to believe that it is negatively affecting their overall enjoyment of Baldur’s Gate 3. While the game offers a decent amount of inventory space, the accumulation of excessive items can result in encumbrance, slowing down progress.
In addition to addressing the shared stash bug, the latest hotfix includes several crash fixes and eliminates duplicated characters and items caused by items being transferred between different cached levels in the game.
