Ion Fury, built in Duke Nukem 3D’s iconic Build Engine, serves as a spiritual successor to Duke 3D, offering players a thrilling experience in the shoes of Shelly “Bombshell” Harrison. While it could have been a Duke Nukem game, the character was handed over to Gearbox, and players have had the privilege of taking on the role of Shelly.

In Ion Fury Aftershock expansion, players will once again face off against their arch-nemesis, Dr. Heskel nemesis, in an expansion that goes beyond just new maps. It introduces an array of exciting additions, including new enemies and weapons, and even a motorcycle for Shelly to ride. Moreover, players can look forward to a new difficulty level and an “Arrange Mode” for the base game, offering a remixed gaming experience.

While Ion Fury may not quite match the legendary status of Duke Nukem 3D, it successfully captures the spirit of its predecessor. Aftershock expansion aims to build upon this foundation and enhance the overall experience. With the expansion’s release approaching, fans of the series have much to anticipate.

It’s important to note that Ion Fury: Aftershock is a separate game from Phantom Fury, developed by Slipgate Ironworks, and serves as more of a sequel.

Ion Fury: Aftershock expansion is scheduled to launch on October 2, 2023, exclusively for PC gaming, with no confirmation yet regarding other platforms.
