Versus Evil has officially announced the release date for Stray Souls, a horror game developed by Jukai Studio. The spine-chilling experience is set to haunt players on October 25, 2023, across multiple platforms, including PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One.
The eerie narrative of Stray Souls unfolds in the mysterious town of Aspen Falls, where the protagonist, Daniel, inherits his grandmother’s house. In pursuit of funding for his education, Daniel renovates and quickly sells the house in the midst of a thriving real estate market. Little does he know that his seemingly ordinary actions will unearth a ritual set in motion since his birth.
Drawing inspiration from Japanese survival horror classics like Resident Evil and Silent Hill, Stray Souls promises to deliver an intriguing blend of “mind-bending puzzles” and a narrative driven by player choices. Despite being developed by a small team, the game boasts the impressive Unreal 5 Engine and features legendary composer Akira Yamaoka as a guest contributor.
While some elements of the game may appear familiar, Stray Souls aims to offer its unique take on the horror genre. With its promise of “soulslike precision” combat and the allure of exploring a horror title crafted by a smaller development team, it may indeed be worth a closer look.
Prepare to venture into the spine-chilling world of Stray Souls when it arrives on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One on October 25, 2023.
