Starbreeze’s shooter grapples with ongoing challenges.

Payday 3, the heist-themed shooter, continues to face hurdles as Starbreeze Studios announces a delay for the game’s first update, originally scheduled for today. In addition to the update delay, the studio also disclosed the need for further server maintenance.
Starbreeze expressed its apologies for the delay, citing the necessity to ensure the update’s stability. The decision to delay the patch stems from required changes that would necessitate a new round of console certification. The studio now aims to deliver the update by mid-October.
This delay represents the latest setback in a series of challenges and missteps that have shadowed Payday 3 since its launch two weeks ago. Matchmaking issues made it challenging for players to access the game, even for those who intended to play solo, owing to the always-online requirement. This situation led to a “mostly negative” rating on Steam, with only 39% of over 30,000 user reviews being positive. Starbreeze ultimately acknowledged the possibility of implementing an offline mode in response to player feedback.
Regarding the implementation of an offline mode, Starbreeze confirmed that it is exploring options to enhance the player experience. However, it’s worth noting that no work has officially begun on this feature as of now.
Although Starbreeze had previously stated that Payday 3’s matchmaking stability and performance improved through two updates released on September 26 and 29, it appears that additional work is necessary. The studio announced a need for further server maintenance, scheduled for October 6 and 10 between 8 AM and 11 AM CEST. While Starbreeze aims to make this maintenance unobtrusive, players have been advised to anticipate it. The studio expressed its gratitude for the community’s patience and support.
