Kevin Afghani Takes the Reins as the Iconic Plumbers
The highly-anticipated release of Super Mario Bros. Wonder is just around the corner, and fans have been eagerly speculating about who will be taking on the roles of Mario and Luigi in the upcoming game. The wait is over as the new voice actor has been revealed, and he’s taking to social media to express his gratitude.
The man behind the voices of both Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is none other than Kevin Afghani, known for his portrayal of Arnold in Genshin Impact, an event-exclusive NPC. This announcement puts an end to the speculation that had been swirling after a datamine of the retail demo, with names like Afghani and Mick Wingert in the mix. Although some had suspected Wingert, agents for the latter had denied his involvement in the iconic plumber roles. Now, it’s officially confirmed that Kevin Afghani is the voice of both Mario and Luigi.
Kevin Afghani took to Twitter to publicly thank Nintendo for the opportunity, saying, “Incredibly proud to have voiced Mario and Luigi in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Thanks to Nintendo for inviting me into the Flower Kingdom!”
While stepping into the shoes of the iconic plumbers is no small feat, early impressions from trailers and demos have left fans impressed with Afghani’s performance. It’s important to note that his role has been confirmed for Super Mario Bros. Wonder, leaving room for speculation about his potential involvement in Super Mario RPG and the yet-to-be-announced voice actor for Wario in WarioWare: Move It!
