Cloudkill, a formidable high-level spell in Baldur’s Gate 3, poses a persistent threat as it gradually saps characters’ health. While encountering it may not be a frequent occurrence, its lingering effects can be highly troublesome, afflicting allies and enemies alike. Fortunately, players can employ various strategies to counter its deadly impact. Here’s how to effectively handle Cloudkill in the game:

- Disabling Cloudkill with Spells:
- Gust of Wind: Utilize this spell to disperse toxic fumes and repel adversaries simultaneously. It requires a character with the Wizard, Sorcerer, Druid, or a Cleric of the Tempest Domain subclass.
- Fog Cloud: Learn and cast this spell as it not only neutralizes Cloudkill but also prevents its activation. Suitable for Wizards, Sorcerers, Druids, Rangers, as well as subclasses like Cleric (Tempest Domain), Rogue (Arcane Trickster), and Fighter (Eldritch Knight).
- Darkness: Similarly effective in countering Cloudkill, Darkness can be harnessed by Warlocks, Sorcerers, and Wizards, along with certain subclasses and races like Arcane Trickster, Eldritch Knight, and specific races such as Asmodeus Tiefling, Drow, and Drow Half-Elf.
- Covering Vents to Remove Cloudkill:
- If spell usage is restricted, players can shut down the vents that generate Cloudkill. Identify these vents by utilizing fire to clear the smoke temporarily or by passing a Perception check. Subsequently, obstruct the vents using objects found in the game.
- Waiting for the Smoke to Dissipate:
- While seemingly unconventional, allowing the cloud to disperse naturally is a viable approach. Move to a safe distance and patiently wait for the hazardous fog to vanish, providing a simple yet effective resolution in the absence of other alternatives.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is currently accessible on PC and PS5, with an Xbox Series X version also under development, offering players an immersive fantasy role-playing experience.
