Developed by Neowiz Games and Round8 Studio, Lies of P, a soulslike game, broke through the cluttered gaming market with its distinctive interpretation of Carlo Collodi’s The Adventures of Pinocchio. Since its release on September 18, the game has successfully sold over a million copies worldwide, garnering positive feedback and earning a “Very Positive” user review rating on Steam.
In a recent press release, Neowiz CEO Seungchul Kim celebrated this milestone, emphasizing the potential of Korean console games in the global gaming landscape. The success didn’t come without challenges, as Kim acknowledged that the Lies of P project presented significant hurdles for both Neowiz and Round8 Studio. The development journey wasn’t without its share of controversies, with the removal of an anti-cop sign in the game stirring some debate.
Despite the obstacles, the studios are basking in their achievements, as Lies of P has also received prestigious award nominations. Notably, the game secured a nomination for “Best Visual Design” at this year’s Golden Joystick Awards ceremony.
