A Resourceful Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom Enthusiast Finds an Inventive Approach to Navigating Rails Without Dependence on Mine Carts

A clever and resourceful player of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom has ingeniously combined various Zonai tools to devise an innovative method for traversing railings without the need for mine carts. In the vast world of Hyrule, The Depths, and the Sky Islands, Tears of the Kingdom adventurers frequently encounter railings, and this new found technique offers a practical solution for when mine carts are scarce.
While The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild introduced groundbreaking concepts and game play styles to the franchise, Tears of the Kingdom further enriches the experience with its own surprises, including exploration of the floating sky islands and the utilization of Link’s new found abilities. One such innovation in Tears of the Kingdom is the introduction of rails throughout the game world, enabling Link to journey between different areas of the map with ease. These rails are scattered across the landscape, and several shrines in Tears of the Kingdom are dedicated to this novel feature. Ordinarily, players would employ a fan to propel a mine cart along the rails, but a resourceful player has uncovered an alternative method to achieve the same result.
A Reddit user known as zeeeekrei has shared a video
On the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit showcasing a makeshift vehicle capable of traveling along most of the game’s rails. The video commences on the Great Sky Island, where Link utilizes a vehicle constructed from Zonai tools to ascend a railing, reaching a higher section of the island. The vehicle’s movement is deliberate, and it encounters a minor obstruction near the top of the railing due to a slope, but it successfully transports Link from one point to another.
To construct this makeshift rail vehicle, zeeeekrei ingeniously employed some of the most versatile Zonai tools in Tears of the Kingdom: two small wheels fused together, each affixed to a downward stake on either side. Players can quickly assemble this rudimentary creation when a mine cart is not readily available in the vicinity. One commenter suggested that attaching a Steering Stick to the top would allow the vehicle to reverse as well. However, it’s worth noting that certain rails in the game have boards or metal components on the under side, potentially impeding smooth stake movement.
Another exciting method for traversing Tears of the Kingdom’s rails involves crafting a skateboard. By fusing a shield with a minecart or exploring alternative combinations, players can create a versatile skateboard that excels at navigating steep inclines and even grinding along rails.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is currently available on the Nintendo Switch.
