Sony has revealed its lineup for PlayStation Plus this month, and notably standing out within their PlayStation Classics Catalog is “I.Q. Final,” which is poised for its grand entry on October 17.

“I.Q. Final,” the sequel to the iconic 1997 game “I.Q.: Intelligent Qube,” might strike a chord with those who fondly remember the era of PS1 demo discs. This challenging puzzle game, backed by immersive music, is not just about gameplay—it’s a test of strategy and timing. Players strategically drop bomb tiles to navigate through an ever-advancing stack of blocks. However, there’s a catch—detonating forbidden tiles shrinks the playing platform, intensifying the challenge.
Despite its popularity, the 1998 sequel never made its North American debut but was released in Japan as “Kurushi Final: Mental Blocks” and in Europe under its original name. Surprisingly, even with multiple PlayStation Network releases, this sequel eluded North American gamers. The game boasts four distinct modes: “100 Attack,” “Survival,” “Create,” and “Final,” each offering a unique gaming experience.
For those who have journeyed through “I.Q.: Intelligent Qube” and yearned for more, the introduction of “I.Q. Final” to the PlayStation lineup is exhilarating. Yet, there’s a cloud of uncertainty—will it adhere to PAL’s 50hz format, or will it be exclusively accessible to Premium subscribers? Despite these ambiguities, anticipation remains high. Gamers can mark their calendars for “I.Q. Final,” joining the roster of PlayStation Classics Catalog on October 17.
