Ubisoft Delays XDefiant Launch Again; Cites Player Feedback and Frame Spike Issues

Ubisoft has once again postponed the release of its free-to-play arcade first-person shooter game, XDefiant, despite earlier rumors suggesting an imminent launch. The announcement was made by Executive Producer Mark Rubin via Twitter, where he provided a detailed explanation for the delay.

Delays XDefiant Launch

The decision to delay the game came after a public test session (PTS) of their server infrastructure. Rubin expressed gratitude to the community for their active participation in the test and for sharing valuable feedback through various social media platforms. While the majority of players had a positive experience and noticed improvements compared to previous tests, there were still issues that needed attention.

Emphasizing the significance of player feedback, Rubin highlighted its role in shaping the game’s development. Using movement mechanics as an example, he addressed concerns about the slide’s responsiveness. Despite no intentional changes, player feedback revealed frame spikes were affecting the slide, causing the perceived issue.

Acknowledging the disappointment of the delay, Rubin highlighted the game’s proximity to release and the anticipation it generated. Despite setbacks, the team remains dedicated to delivering a high-quality, enduring gaming experience with XDefiant. Community collaboration is emphasized as crucial in achieving the game’s goal of becoming a long-term gaming experience.

As of now, there is no new release date set for XDefiant. While Rubin mentioned that the fixes shouldn’t take long, he also acknowledged that previous estimates had proven overly optimistic. The community will be updated as soon as Ubisoft San Francisco finally settles on a new launch date.
