Atari revives the classic arcade game Berzerk with updated graphics, controls, and a new soundtrack.
Atari has announced the revival of the classic arcade game Berzerk with “Berzerk: Recharged,” marking the first release in the Berzerk franchise since the 1980s. This nostalgic title is part of Atari’s Recharged lineup and is set to launch on consoles and PC later this year. Players can expect refreshed graphics, enhanced twin-stick controls, and an all-new sound track by acclaimed artist Megan McDuffee.
Berzerk: Recharged Details:

The original Berzerk, released in 1980, tasked players with navigating electrified mazes while battling hordes of armed robots. The game featured the relentless antagonist Evil Otto, represented as a giant smiley face, relentlessly pursuing players. In “Berzerk: Recharged,” Otto makes a triumphant return, maintaining his invincible and deadly nature.
“Berzerk: Recharged” captures the essence of a space station shoot out with its updated graphics and a groovy 80s arcade ambiance, complemented by Megan McDuffee’s original sci-fi synth sound track. The game’s mazes are procedurally generated, and enemy robots’ color schemes change as the intensity and difficulty increase, offering a dynamic game play experience.
With over 20 mazes to conquer, players must adapt to various challenges. Survival relies on weapon modifiers like spread-shots, big shots, rail guns, plus speed boosts, shields, mines, and more. The game features co-op play and a public leader board, continuing Atari’s tradition of multiplayer engagement.
