Sea of Thieves Hotfix Patch 2.9.0.1 Enhances Gameplay and Stability, Introduces Guild Improvements

Xbox Game Studios recently released hotfix patch 2.9.0.1 for Sea of Thieves, addressing performance issues and stability improvements. The update also brought quality-of-life changes to guilds, allowing players to raise their Emissary Flag before reaching reputation level 15.

Patch Notes:

  1. The Skull of Destiny Voyage Changes:
    • Legendary Search for the Skull of Destiny Voyages are available for purchase again at their original prices.
    • Single Voyage: 100 Doubloons from the Pirate Lord or shipwrights.
    • Voyage Bundle: 500 Doubloons from shipwrights.
  2. Performance and Stability Improvements:
    • Server performance improvements to resolve high ping spikes, desync, and rubberbanding issues.
    • Fix for a vulnerability causing certain players to impact server stability and cause disconnections.
  3. Gameplay Changes:
    • Voting on the Legendary Search for the Skull of Destiny Voyage no longer automatically completes the voyage.
    • Fix for players getting dropped into the sea when firing themselves from a cannon at high ship speed.
    • Progress tracking for Reaper’s Riches and Fortune’s Favour Commendations now accurately reflects the player’s progress.
    • Restoration of the ability to dig up Poor Dougie at Sailor’s Grave in ‘A Pirate’s Life’ questline.
  4. Guilds Reworks:
    • Guilds reaching a Distinction can now raise a Guild Emissary Flag immediately, bypassing the need to reach Guild Reputation level 15.
    • Guilds with 42 pledged ships can still access the Guilds tab and view their progress.
    • Fix for players getting disconnected when trying to join a Guild session after the session creator has left.
    • Enhanced stability for players receiving Guild Invites, reducing instances of disconnection.
