Discover how to unlock the second Fatalities for every character in Mortal Kombat 1, adding style to your finishers.

Fatalities have always been a hallmark feature of the Mortal Kombat series. In MK1, every playable character possesses two Fatalities. However, only one of these Fatalities is readily available when you begin. Unlocking the second Fatality is a rewarding yet time-consuming process, offering players not only additional finishing moves but also player cards, taunts, and Brutalities.
How to Unlock Fatalities in Mortal Kombat 1

To access a character’s second Fatality in Mortal Kombat 1, players must raise their Fighter Mastery rank to a specific level. The required rank varies for each character, so there’s no universal threshold to aim for. Players can check upcoming rewards in the Mastery section of the stats screen to track their progress. It’s important to note that unlocking a Fatality doesn’t affect the ability to perform it. Players who know the button combinations and positioning can execute the second Fatality before unlocking it officially.
While the menu may not display the button prompts for locked Fatalities, players can still perform them by using the correct inputs and positioning. Below, you’ll find individual guides for each MK1 character, complete with button prompts and video demonstrations of the second Fatalities.
Mortal Kombat 1 is now available on PC, PS5, Switch, and Xbox Series X|S.
