Discover the Hidden Art of Fast Travel in Red Dead Redemption 2 with This Updated Guide.

Red Dead Redemption 2 continues to captivate players around the globe as they accompany Arthur Morgan on his journey through a dynamically evolving world. In our ongoing commitment to keeping players informed, this update introduces a new video guide on the topic of fast travel in RDR2, providing a comprehensive understanding of this vital feature.
Red Dead Redemption 2 boasts a sprawling open world created by Rockstar Games, offering an immense landscape to explore. Yet, traversing this vast terrain often requires substantial time and effort, whether it’s traveling to objectives or hunting for items.
Thankfully, Red Dead Redemption 2 provides several options for swift travel between locations. Two readily accessible methods, trains and stagecoaches, are marked directly on the in-game map, requiring a modest expenditure. Players can journey to a train station (indicated by mail icons) or a stagecoach area (represented by signpost icons) and select their desired destination.
However, there’s another fast travel method in Red Dead Redemption 2 that players might not be aware of, as the game doesn’t fully explain it. At any of the base camps, players can employ Arthur Morgan’s lodging to fast travel to previously visited locations. Here’s how to unlock this valuable feature.
Unlocking Arthur’s Lodging Upgrade:

- Access the Ledger at your base camp, where Arthur Morgan can allocate funds for camp upgrades, such as Medical Supplies or Provisions.
- Within the Ledger, you’ll find a section dedicated to Lodgings. The first entry is an upgrade for Dutch’s Lodging, named “First Things First.” This enhancement encourages other members of the Dutch Van Der Linde gang to contribute towards the camp’s funds, in addition to Arthur’s contributions. While it comes at a cost of $220, it’s an essential step.
- Once you’ve acquired the Dutch Lodging upgrade, you’ll unlock the ability to upgrade Arthur’s Lodging. This upgrade includes a fast travel map. However, it comes at a higher cost, which may vary depending on your in-game progress, typically around $325.Note: The cost of camp upgrades may fluctuate based on certain factors. Some players have reported different prices, such as Dutch’s tent upgrade at $170 and Arthur’s upgrade at $260. The exact reasons behind these price variations have not been confirmed, but it may relate to the player’s contributions to the camp’s funds.
With the Arthur’s Lodging upgrade in place, simply approach the map to initiate fast travel to any major towns, landmarks, or locations you’ve previously visited. This functionality proves highly valuable, especially when making regular trips to camp for quests, deliveries, or supply management.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PS4 and Xbox One.
