A Starfield player shares their amusing experience after using console commands to shrink Vasco, raising curiosity about the possibilities of character manipulation in the game.

In a lighthearted twist within the Starfield universe, a player decided to have some fun by employing console commands to reduce the size of their companion, Vasco. This whimsical endeavor raised eyebrows among the Starfield community, sparking discussions on character scaling, the potential for similar modifications, and the broader world of Starfield modding.

Vasco, the iconic robot companion, has left an indelible mark on the Starfield community since the game’s initial teaser in 2021. As a Model A robot from Lunar Robotics, Vasco exudes a commanding presence with his towering stature. Players can recruit him as a companion on their journey through the Settled Systems, joining them in thrilling spacefaring adventures.

However, one player chose to step away from the epic space odyssey to engage in a light-hearted experiment with Vasco. Reddit user Money-Mechanic ventured into the console commands on their PC and, after selecting Vasco, entered “setscale 0.4” to manipulate the character’s scale. The result? Vasco’s character model was hilariously reduced to less than half of his original size, as showcased in a Reddit post where the pint-sized companion stands beside the player. To further adapt Vasco’s new stature, the player added “setav speedmult 300” to enhance his running speed, considering his shorter legs.

This playful encounter with a shrunken Vasco piqued the interest of fellow Starfield enthusiasts. Discussions surfaced around the possibilities of altering the size of other companions and NPCs using console commands. Ideas emerged regarding how character scaling adjustments could impact gameplay dynamics and the potential for similar lighthearted modifications.

Money-Mechanic recounted their experimentation, highlighting the flexibility of console commands. They mentioned the ability to jump over or walk around the mini Vasco, ensuring he never obstructed the player’s path. Furthermore, they shared that for a more dramatic change, players could employ a scale of 50 to transform characters into enormous mechs, adding an extra layer of fun to the Starfield experience.

Starfield players have demonstrated their creativity in the game, whether through encountering and sharing humorous bugs or introducing mods to enrich their gameplay. Console commands serve as a versatile tool for players to tailor their experiences within the Starfield universe, leading to entertaining and unexpected outcomes.

Looking ahead, Bethesda’s ongoing work on Starfield is likely to address various issues and further enhance the player experience, ensuring that the game continues to captivate and surprise its audience.
