Masayoshi Yokoyama, RGG Studio Head, discloses that Yakuza: Like A Dragon – Infinite Wealth is set to become the lengthiest installment in the Yakuza series, potentially requiring days for completion.
In a recent interview, Yokoyama shed light on the expansive nature of Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The RGG Studio Head affirmed that the forthcoming title would surpass its predecessors in terms of length, necessitating more than two consecutive all-night gameplay sessions for completion. Yokoyama even humorously cautioned that attempting to finish the game in a single stretch might lead players to feel unwell. With an emphasis on a festive atmosphere, the developers aim to build anticipation and excitement leading up to the game’s launch.
“Infinite Wealth is a monster-class game longer than anything we’ve made so far. If you go at it continuously, you’ll get sick, and it won’t end with just one or two all-nighters.”
Breaking the Duration Barriers:
Previous entries in the Yakuza series, such as Yakuza: Like A Dragon and Yakuza 5, demanded substantial playtime, ranging from 45 to 50 hours for the main story campaigns. Yokoyama’s hints suggest that Infinite Wealth is set to surpass these benchmarks, potentially extending the gameplay to over 60 hours. As the game introduces a vibrant tropical resort on Dondoko Island, featuring extensive customization options, players are anticipated to invest significant time in the side content, surpassing even the expansive Yakuza Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name.
Lengthy Side Content and Teased Exploration:
While details about the main story and specific side activities have been teased, the exact time commitment for players in areas beyond the primary campaign remains uncertain. The focus on Dondoko Island and its tropical resort implies a wealth of side activities and customization options, hinting at a potentially richer experience than previous Yakuza titles. Some past entries have exceeded the 100-hour mark for full completion, indicating that Yakuza: Like A Dragon – Infinite Wealth could usher in an even more prolonged and immersive gaming journey.
