Decoding the Trial of Insight Books

Initiating the trial involves engaging with the statue of Balduran, who introduces the premise: three individuals with varying perspectives on post-war actions. The task is to identify the person with the most harmful opinions and take decisive action against them to successfully pass the Trial of Insight.
The three illusionary figures stand at the back of the cave, each represented by a red illusion. Players cannot directly interact with them, but must decode their perspectives by perusing the three flying books within the cave. The challenge lies in the books being unreadable while in motion, and attempting to damage them results in unreadability. The solution? Enter turn-based mode, throw the book, and once it falls to the ground, it becomes readable.
Choosing the Right Person

The three books—Stedd’s The Virtues of Union, Suelto’s The Ethic of War, and Amaps’ Memoirs—offer insights into the opinions of the illusions. Stedd proposes alliances with bigger nations, Suelto favors violently dismantling surrendering kingdoms, and Amaps reflects on societal law contributions.
Despite personal views, the analysis reveals Suelto as the figure with the most destructive opinion. Players should direct their actions toward the Suelto illusion, attacking and aligning with the statue of Balduran’s preference. Successfully navigating this puzzle secures passage through the Trial of Insight.
With players enthralled on macOS and PC, excitement grows for Baldur’s Gate 3’s upcoming release on PS5 on September 6.
