Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 Receives Update for Improved Experience

Konami rolls out patch 1.4.0 for Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, addressing issues and enhancing visual and auditory elements.

Konami has released Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 patch 1.4.0, bringing improvements to the visual and auditory aspects of the game while addressing various issues. Although PC users have already received this update, players on PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch can expect the update to roll out in January 2024.

Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 comprises the first five games in the iconic franchise: Metal Gear (1987), MG2: Solid Snake (1990), Metal Gear Solid (1998), MGS2: Sons of Liberty (2001), and MGS3: Snake Eater (2004). Konami has been diligent in addressing issues since the collection’s launch, and the latest patch aims to further enhance the player experience.

The update introduces several features to enhance gameplay

In Metal Gear Solid, players can now toggle the “Smoothing” option on and off, allowing them to choose between a polished or sharp visual display. Steam users can now customize controller response speed, choosing between fast and stable responses. The addition of an Audio Settings feature enhances the auditory experience across all games, enabling players to adjust volumes.

The Steam version introduces a Window Mode, allowing players to seamlessly switch between windowed and full-screen modes using Alt + Enter. The patch also prioritizes user-set button designs on Steam. Additionally, it addresses visual limitations, offering players the choice to customize game screen settings with standard, pixel-perfect, or 16:9 ratios.

In Sons of Liberty, the update resolves specific issues related to cutscene pointers and the accurate display of sea lice during certain in-game moments. Snake Eater addresses resolution issues with certain face paints and implements other minor improvements for players. Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 have also received minor fixes.

Like previous updates, this patch reflects Konami’s commitment to improving the gaming experience and ensuring a smooth transition of these classic titles to modern platforms. The Metal Gear franchise remains a beloved classic, and efforts to refine its presentation on current gaming systems demonstrate its enduring popularity.
