Capcom teases Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts with a glimpse of Akuma’s revamped appearance, set to debut as downloadable content in 2024.
Ahead of Akuma’s anticipated inclusion as DLC in Street Fighter 6, Capcom has provided fans with a tantalizing preview of the renowned character updated look. Since its launch in June, Street Fighter 6 has emerged as one of the stand out fighting games of 2023, receiving substantial post launch support, including a season pass featuring new characters.
The DLC roster for Street Fighter 6 includes four characters, featuring both new and familiar faces. A.K.I. and Rashid were among the initial additions, with Ed and Akuma scheduled for subsequent releases in Winter 2024 and Spring 2024, respectively. As part of the New Year’s celebration, Capcom revealed a sneak peek of Akuma’s revamped appearance for his debut in Street Fighter 6.
The newly released render of Akuma show cases his ferocity within the game’s engine,
Exuding his signature intensity against a striking red back drop reminiscent of his iconic finishing move, the Raging Demon. Akuma’s revamped design features a more untamed appearance, donning a pelt around his waist and neck, complemented by stark white hair, deviating from his usual red locks.
Fans expressed their enthusiasm for Akuma’s return, praising his updated design and considering it an enhancement over his previous portrayal in Street Fighter 5, particularly appreciating the new hair, which better reflects his symbolic lion motifs. While many eagerly anticipate Akuma’s arrival, there’s also curiosity surrounding Ed, the preceding DLC character slated for release.
Known for his high-risk, high-reward offensive style, Akuma traditionally embodies a glass cannon archetype in Street Fighter games, sharing moves with other Shotclone characters like Ryu and Ken. His repertoire includes signature attacks like the Shoryuken and Hadouken, albeit with fewer defensive options. Players can anticipate mastering Akuma’s moves for their customizable avatars in both the single player World Tour mode and online multiplayer matches in Street Fighter 6.
