In Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, leading vast armies and engaging in monumental battles represents the pinnacle of gameplay. Successfully navigating to the late game, equipped with ample power and resources, is crucial for fully enjoying these exhilarating moments.

Key Leadership Perks for Superior Army Management

The leadership skill in Bannerlord is vital for effective army management. It enables you to command larger, more satisfied armies, consisting of higher-quality troops and skilled captains for strategic formation management in battles.

Combat Tips Perk: Enhancing Troop Experience

  • Provides +2 experience per day to all troops in your party.
  • Offers +1 to troop tiers when recruiting from the same culture.

The Combat Tips perk, available at level 25, significantly boosts your troops’ daily experience, especially beneficial during peaceful periods, preparing your army for major confrontations.

Raise The Meek Perk: Focusing on Lower-Tier Troops

  • Grants +4 experience per day to tier 1 and 2 troops.
  • Provides +3 experience per day to each troop in a garrison in the governed settlement.

While Raise the Meek primarily benefits lower-tier troops, Combat Tips often supersedes its effects by ensuring higher-tier recruits from your cultural settlements.

Fervent Attacker and Stout Defender: Morale and Prisoner Recruitment

  • Fervent Attacker: Increases initial battle morale when attacking and boosts tier 1-3 prisoner recruitment rate by 50%.
  • Stout Defender: Enhances morale at battle start when defending and improves tier 4+ prisoner recruitment rate by 50%.

These perks are essential for boosting morale and expediting the recruitment of prisoners, especially higher-tier ones, into your army.

Authority vs. Heroic Leader: Governing and Leadership

  • Authority: Offers a 20% security bonus from town garrisons and increases party size limit by 5.
  • Heroic Leader: Improves daily loyalty in governed settlements and inflicts a 10% morale penalty on enemies when troops in your formation defeat an enemy.

For main characters, Authority is often the preferred choice at Leadership level 75, enhancing party size and overall leadership impact.

Famous Commander and Loyalty and Honor: Renown and Prisoner Recruitment

  • Famous Commander: Boosts renown gain from battles by 50% and adds 200 experience to troops upon recruitment.
  • Loyalty and Honor: Prevents tier 3+ troops from retreating due to low morale and speeds up non-bandit prisoner recruitment by 30%.

These perks complement each other, with Famous Commander significantly enhancing new recruit viability for battle.

Leader of the Masses and Presence: Maximizing Party Size and Effectiveness

  • Leader of the Masses: Increases party size by 5 for each controlled town and boosts battle experience share by 5%.
  • Presence: Adds 5 security per day while waiting in a town and removes the morale penalty for recruiting prisoners of your faction.

Leader of the Masses is ideal for those controlling multiple towns, enhancing both party size and troop experience.

Citizen’s Militia vs. Veteran’s Respect: Governor Perks

  • Citizen’s Militia: Raises the chance of spawning elite militias in governed settlements by 20% and increases morale from victories by 20%.
  • Veteran’s Respect: Expands garrison size by 20 in the governed settlement and allows the conversion of bandits into regular troops.

While both perks suit governors, Veteran’s Respect may offer more strategic advantages for your character, especially when focusing on prisoner management.

These leadership perks in Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord are fundamental for building and maintaining a formidable army, ensuring success in the game’s epic battles and strategic conquests.
