While the exact player count of Baldur’s Gate 3 remains elusive across PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC, Larian Studios’ Director of Publishing, Michael Douse, has provided insight into the game’s expansive reach. With the latest revelation, it’s evident that Baldur’s Gate 3 has surpassed a remarkable milestone, boasting a player base well exceeding 10 million.

Since its full release in August, Baldur’s Gate 3 has consistently dominated charts, captivating audiences worldwide. Despite the lack of precise figures across all platforms, Douse’s recent confirmation offers the clearest indication yet of the game’s immense popularity, with a staggering player count exceeding 10 million.

In a series of tweets addressing negative interactions with a subset of the community, Douse casually disclosed: “This is a game that went from ~2 million players to way over 10 million in a very short space of time.”

While various metrics provide insights into Baldur’s Gate 3’s success, they offer only a partial view. Steam’s data reveals impressive peak concurrent player counts, with Baldur’s Gate 3 ranking among the platform’s top 10 most-played games ever, peaking at 875,000. Moreover, it claimed the title of Steam’s best-selling and most-played game in 2023. However, these metrics do not encompass the game’s performance on PlayStation and Xbox platforms.

Though the precise sales figures remain undisclosed, it’s evident that Baldur’s Gate 3’s sales have surpassed the 10 million mark. With local multi player facilitating simultaneous game play for two players, each additional player generally corresponds to a sold copy. Douse’s assertion of the player count being “way more” than 10 million under scores the extraordinary success of a title initially perceived as niche by some.
