The television anime adaptation of Izumi Ōkido’s light novel series, “Rekishi ni Nokoru Akujo ni Naru zo” (I’ll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History), announced its October 1 premiere on the Tokyo MX channel through a new character promotional video. The video features Alicia Williams, voiced by Kanna Nakamura. The anime includes a diverse cast with Kaito Ishikawa as Duke Seeker, Rie Takahashi as Jill, and many others.
The anime had its world premiere at the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024 event in Berlin on July 20. Directed by Yūji Yanase (known for “By the Grace of the Gods” and “In the Land of Leadale”) and produced by Maho Film, the series’ scripts are overseen by Sawako Hirabayashi. Main character design is handled by Yūko Watabe and Eri Kojima, with music composed by Moe Hyūga.
The plot centers on Alicia, a girl who despises “goody-two-shoes” heroines and is reincarnated as a villainess in her favorite otome games. She aspires to be the most notorious villainess in history, but her attempts at villainy inadvertently attract the prince’s affection.
Ōkido began the series on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website in December 2018, and the light novels, illustrated by Jyun Hayase, started in 2020, with the sixth volume released in March 2023. Akari Hoshi’s manga adaptation began in Kadokawa’s B’s-LOG COMIC in September 2020, with the fourth volume published in August 2023. The series has over 850,000 copies in circulation, including digital versions.
