Riot’s Upcoming Ranked Lockout System in League of Legends

League of Legends is set to undergo significant changes to its Ranked system in 2024, with the introduction of three Ranked Splits and the eagerly anticipated Ranked Lockout System. This new system aims to tackle disruptive player behavior in Ranked queues, offering suspensions and chat restrictions to those who repeatedly violate the rules.
To regain access to Ranked games, affected players will need to complete five Normal games, encouraging a positive change in their conduct.

Riot Games, the developer behind League of Legends, plans to closely monitor the system’s effectiveness and may make adjustments as needed. The Lockout System is primarily targeted at players who have faced multiple violations related to their honor level, including actions like feeding, leaving matches, going AFK, and displaying toxic behavior in chat.

Additionally, Riot hopes that the Ranked Lockout System will discourage players from frequently switching between accounts, as it enforces a specific number of games that must be completed before returning to Ranked play. The system is designed with a remedial purpose in mind, focusing on improving player behavior rather than purely punishing them.

While Riot Games has not provided an exact release date, it is expected that this feature will be implemented in an upcoming patch, possibly Patch 13.19 or 13.20, pending further details and Riot’s readiness to introduce the system. These changes are highly anticipated by the League of Legends community and are part of Riot’s ongoing efforts to enhance the player experience in Ranked play.
