Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is set to offer players an extensive gaming experience, with an estimated total playtime of nearly 100 hours. Compared to its predecessor, Final Fantasy 7 Remake, which could be completed in about 30 hours with side quests, this is a significant increase in scope.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi shared this exciting news via the official Final Fantasy 7 Twitter account. He highlighted that while the main storyline is more ambitious than the previous game’s narrative, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth embraces the concept of “free exploration.” Players can look forward to engaging stories, enjoyable mini-games, formidable monsters, and a vast world map filled with discoveries. This extended playtime offers fans the opportunity to explore the game’s world in great detail.

Creative director Tetsuya Nomura also hinted at the game’s progression, indicating that the order in which players can explore locations differs from the original Final Fantasy VII. Some shifts in the order of events and locations have been introduced, with notable changes like Wutai being visited in a subsequent installment. The locations featured in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth extend up to “The Forgotten Capital,” where a significant plot development awaits players.

The game is scheduled for release on February 29, exclusively for the PS5, promising an expansive and immersive experience for fans of the franchise.
