A peculiar Cyberpunk 2077 bug spawns cars on top of characters’ heads, creating an absurd visual spectacle and impacting gameplay.

A surreal bug has surfaced in Cyberpunk 2077, where cars mysteriously appear atop characters’ heads, resembling oversized hats. This peculiar glitch has baffled players and adds to the list of unexpected technical issues introduced with the Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0.
Despite CD Projekt Red’s extensive efforts to refine the game, including three years of bug fixes and performance enhancements, the vast scope of the 2.0 update inevitably led to some unforeseen problems.
The most recent anomaly was discovered by a Reddit user known as wellforthebird. They encountered a bizarre bug that occasionally caused cars to spawn on their character V’s head, resulting in an absurd yet disruptive spectacle. The car-hat not only obstructed the character’s field of vision but also interfered with gameplay, making it impossible to enter vehicles or ride bikes. In a shared Reddit clip, the player even demonstrated a unique advantage, using the automotive headwear as makeshift cover to shield themselves from bullets.
The exact cause of this heady car glitch remains unclear. It is likely that this issue was introduced with the 2.0 patch, the first significant update Cyberpunk 2077 received in over a year. Another peculiar bug surfaced shortly after the September 21 update, involving police vehicles spontaneously exploding.
Although CD Projekt Red issued a patch, known as Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.01, it did not specifically address the car-as-hat problem. While the changelog mentioned fixes for various vehicle-related issues, there was no mention of head-mounted cars.
This peculiar bug does not appear to be widespread, as no similar reports have emerged. The Reddit user who encountered it noted that the issue only arose during the Flying Drugs side quest in the Badlands. While CD Projekt Red does not have plans for major future updates for Cyberpunk 2077, there is still potential for bug fixes through upcoming hotfixes, similar to the recent 2.01 patch.
Cyberpunk 2077 is available on multiple platforms, including PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
