Baldur’s Gate 3, developed by Larian Studios, has garnered significant acclaim in 2023, standing alongside The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with a remarkable 96 on Metacritic. Despite its success, the game’s arrival on the Xbox platform has encountered delays and technical challenges.

Initially, the less powerful Xbox Series S encountered difficulties running the game’s split-screen co-op, a prerequisite for its platform release. Despite efforts by Larian Studios and Xbox to resolve the issue, the technical hurdle remained insurmountable for the Series S. Eventually, Larian Studios made the decision to release Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox Series X and Series S without split-screen co-op, committing to meet the year-end deadline.
As the months passed, the anticipation for the game’s arrival on Xbox grew. Michael Douse, Director of Publishing at Larian Studios, reassured an anxious Xbox fan on Twitter, affirming the studio’s determination to bring Baldur’s Gate 3 to Xbox before the end of 2023.
However, with the gaming landscape dominated by notable releases such as Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, and Super Mario Bros. Wonder, the release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 on Xbox remained uncertain. While November and December presented relatively slower periods for major AAA releases, the timeframe for a successful Xbox launch was becoming increasingly tight, considering the need for a prior promotional push.
Presently available on PC and PS5, Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to be eagerly anticipated by Xbox players, awaiting its arrival on the Xbox Series X|S platform.
