Join forces with friends in your vicinity for epic adventures
Niantic, the developer behind Pokémon GO, has unveiled an exciting new feature called ‘Party Play,’ which brings a whole new dimension to multiplayer gameplay with your Pokémon-loving friends. However, there’s a catch—you need to be physically close to your pals to join the party.
The Party Play feature is already live in Pokémon GO, and it empowers you and up to three friends to team up and enjoy the game together. This collaboration is particularly advantageous for tackling challenging raids, as it provides access to a Party Power Gauge that, when fully charged, doubles the strength of your next attack.

When you form a team, you’ll also gain access to exclusive Party Challenges. Completing these tasks rewards all members of your party, making it a truly cooperative experience. Additionally, you can track your friends’ progress, including their Pokémon collection, walking distance, and throwing skills. As a bonus, a new Special Research task awaits you, offering Eevee-themed shirts as a stylish reward.
However, there is a small drawback—Party Play operates based on proximity, meaning you must be physically near your friends to form a party. This decision is part of Niantic’s ongoing effort to encourage players to explore the outdoors and interact with their surroundings while playing Pokémon GO.
