Innersloth Surprises Fans with the Latest Free Map, Plus Details on Upcoming Fungle-Themed Hats for Among Us VR

Innersloth, the team behind Among Us, has thrilled fans with an exciting update for the game. The much-anticipated Fungle map is set to release on October 24 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time, promising players a journey into a vibrant mushroom-covered jungle filled with new tasks and opportunities for sabotage. Alongside the update, Among Us VR enthusiasts will also receive special Fungle-themed hats, enhancing their in-game experience.
This release marks a momentous occasion for A-mong Us, especially considering the recent challenges the game faced. In September, concerns arose due to controversy surrounding Unity, the engine on which the game relies. Initially, Unity proposed runtime fees that sparked a wave of criticism from developers, including Innersloth. Following the community’s backlash, Unity eventually reversed its decision, but the situation raised questions about the future of the engine, particularly with the departure of CEO John Riccitiello. As this story unfolds, Innersloth has chosen to focus its energies on delivering the highly-anticipated fifth map to Among Us.
Come Tuesday, October 24, players across PC, mobile, and current consoles will be able to dive into The Fungle, a map that promises fresh challenges and potential hazards. The patch will become available for download starting at 10:00 AM Pacific, ensuring that players have the opportunity to explore The Fungle to its fullest. The map was initially teased during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on September 14, captivating players with a one-minute animated trailer that hinted at what was to come.
To celebrate the release of The Fungle, Among Us VR players will receive a selection of new hats, making it a date to remember.
In June 2023, Among Us celebrated its fifth anniversary with an update and an exciting collaboration featuring Pusheen. The anniversary update introduced a revamped main menu, delightful Pusheen-themed cosmetics for player avatars, and essential bug fixes across all platforms. The roadmap for Among Us laid out in February 2023 promised the addition of the Fungle map, and now, more than eight months later, Innersloth is delivering on that promise.
While Among Us has seen fluctuations in its popularity since its resurgence in 2020, it continues to thrive as one of the most beloved indie games on Twitch. Fans are eagerly looking forward to what Innersloth has in store for Among Us following the release of the Fungle map.
Among Us is currently available on Android, iOS, PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
