Unleash your weapons full potential and build the ultimate loadout with the revamped Gunsmith system in Modern Warfare 2.

Modern Warfare 2 has introduced a revamped Gunsmith system, empowering players to customize their weapons with various attachments, unlock new platforms, and design their perfect loadout. With the systems extensive capabilities, it’s crucial to understand how to navigate and maximize its potential. This guide provides comprehensive insights into Modern Warfare 2’s Gunsmith system, helping players unlock weapon attachments and create their ideal load outs.
Understanding the Modern Warfare 2 Gunsmith System:

The Gunsmith system is a sub-menu within Modern Warfare 2, offering players the tools to unlock weapon attachments, tailor their firearms, and construct personalized load outs. It’s accessible at rank 4, though unlock the submenu doesn’t automatically grant access to attachments. Additionally, while the Gunsmith empowers players to modify nearly all Modern Warfare 2 weapons, some secondary weapons are exceptions to this rule.
The Gunsmith organizes weapons into platforms, ensuring that players don’t merely unlock individual weapons but entire platforms. Each platform encompasses various Receivers, essentially representing distinct fire arms. Once a platform is unlocked, players can switch the receivers configuration in several ways to access another weapon within a different category. Initial platform access typically hinges on player level, unlock the first weapon in the platform. Subsequent weapons on that platform can be accessed by leveling up the first weapon, consequently unlock their respective receivers.
Here’s an illustrative example: The M4 weapons platform comprises five receivers – M16 assault rifle, 556 Icarus, FSS Hurricane SMG, FTAC Recon battle rifle, and the standard M4 assault rifle. While these weapons fall into diverse MW2 categories, they share the same platform. Unlocking the base M4 assault rifle simultaneously grants access to the other four receivers on the platform, along with various attachments as the player progresses.
As players unlock attachments for the M4 platform, these attachments become accessible for all weapons within that platform. This streamlined approach eliminates the need to repeatedly unlock attachments when leveling new guns. Available attachments encompass magazines, barrels, stocks, rear grips, under barrels, and ammunition.
The modernized Gunsmith system simplifies the process of unlocking various weapons by level specific guns on a platform, grant access to their receivers and attachments.
