In Patch 10.2, World of Warcraft players will find it much quicker to unlock regular flying on the Dragon Isles as a major requirement is lifted.

World of Warcraft has made a significant adjustment that accelerates the process of unlocking regular flying in the Dragonflight zones with the release of Patch 10.2. This modification removes a substantial requirement from the Pathfinder achievement, making it possible for players to attain flying privileges in Dragonflight zones within moments of logging in after the update.
Initially, World of Warcraft had confirmed that regular flying would be accessible in the Dragon Isles but would be gated behind a Pathfinder achievement, a common practice in the game’s history. However, the requirements for this achievement were notably less challenging than some of its predecessors.
In a recent announcement on the World of Warcraft Forum, community manager Kaivax shared that Blizzard had decided to eliminate the Freshscales Fifteen achievement from the prerequisites for Dragon Isles Pathfinder. Previously, this achievement mandated reaching Renown level fifteen with not only the four original factions of Dragonflight but also the Loamm Niffen and Dream Wardens from Patch 10.1 and 10.2. With this removal, regular flying becomes significantly more accessible.

To unlock normal flying in World of Warcraft: Dragonflight, players now need to complete the following achievements:
- Waking Hope: Complete the Waking Shores storyline.
- Ohn’a’roll: Complete the Ohn’ahran Plains storyline.
- Azure Spanner: Complete the Azure Span storyline.
- Just Don’t Ask Me to Spell It: Complete the Thaldraszus storyline.
- Embers of Neltharion: Complete the Forbidden Reach and Zaralek Cavern storylines from Patch 10.1.
- Dragon Isles Explorer: Explore the Waking Shores, Ohn’ahran Plains, Azure Span, and Thaldraszus.
- Explore Zaralek Cavern: Explore Zaralek Cavern from Dragonflight Patch 10.1.
- Explore the Emerald Dream: Explore the Emerald Dream from Dragonflight Patch 10.2.

With the removal of Freshscales Fifteen, all the requirements for Dragon Isles Pathfinder can now be achieved within the game. The only exception is “Explore the Emerald Dream,” which will become obtainable on November 7, coinciding with the release of Guardians of the Dream in World of Warcraft. Players will access the Emerald Dream as they progress through the story quests, making it a swift process to fulfill the achievement and unlock Dragon Isles Pathfinder.
This adjustment is welcomed by many World of Warcraft enthusiasts, as it simplifies the process of obtaining regular flying in the Dragon Isles. While dragon riding remains the favored mode of transportation for most players due to its speed and engagement, regular flying serves as an essential accessibility tool for individuals who experience motion sickness or other difficulties with dynamic flight. The unanimous consensus is that this change is a positive step toward a more accessible and enjoyable flying experience in World of Warcraft.
