Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon seeks fan input on enhancing the game’s online experience, and cross-play takes the top spot.

When Mortal Kombat 1 made its debut on the Nintendo Switch, it faced some initial challenges, but with time, patches have gradually improved various aspects of the game. Now, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon is aiming to further elevate the game’s online mode. Boon recently conducted a poll on social media, asking fans about their most desired online features.
The poll results clearly indicate that cross-play was the most sought-after feature, winning by a significant margin with 75.5% of the votes. Cross-play has become a crucial element in many fighting games today, as it not only breaks down barriers between different platforms but also extends the longevity of these games. Before the release of Mortal Kombat 1, NetherRealm had mentioned plans to implement cross-play post-launch, although a specific release date had not been disclosed.
In other recent developments, Mortal Kombat 1 unveiled a gameplay reveal of its first DLC character, Omni-Man from the “Invincible” series.
