In Genshin Impact Version 4.1, players have the opportunity to embark on a quest for hidden achievements through the exploration of the new Fontaine Research Institute Region and Liffey Region. These regions are home to intriguing lore and challenging puzzles, which players can engage with to unveil the rich backstory of the Fontaine Research Institute. These Cipher Puzzles, decipherable through Energy Terminals and Viewfinders, hold the key to uncovering the fascinating history of the institute and offer players the chance to achieve the Hidden Achievement “The Calendar of the Future is Longer Than the Diary of the Past.”
Cipher Puzzle #1: The First Clue
Begin your journey at the Statue of Seven in the Liffey Region. Descend the stairs directly ahead and you’ll encounter an Energy Transfer Terminal on your left. Activate it to reveal the first Viewfinder. Aim the square target at the white Cipher to unlock the passage and unveil Cipher Letter (VI).
Cipher Puzzle #2: Journey to the Office
Head to the waypoint in front of the Experimental Field Generator Boss and glide northwest to the Executive Office ruins. Grab the Ousia Block located on the second floor near a window-like opening before entering the office. Use the Ousia Block to disable the Pneuma applied to the Fixed Storage Device. On the second floor, you’ll find an Energy Terminal guarded by a Clockwork Mek. Defeat it and use the Energy Terminal to unveil Cipher Letter (V).
Cipher Puzzle #3: The Energy Flow
From the Experimental Field Generator waypoint, descend to the lower floor and choose to glide down or take the stairs. Proceed to the Energy Terminal in the west and grab the Ousia Block behind you. Use the Ousia Block to remove the Pneuma application on the Energy Storage Block. Access the Energy Terminal on your right to reveal Cipher Letter (II).
Cipher Puzzle #4: Boss Battle Secrets
Teleport to the waypoint behind the Experimental Field Generator Boss and enter the boss arena. Ascend to the upper floor, where you’ll find an Energy Terminal directly ahead. Activate it and aim it at the Cipher on the wall to unlock Cipher Letter (III).
Cipher Puzzle #5: The Office Chronicles
After solving the previous puzzle, proceed east to the Materials Office. To unlock this Cipher Puzzle, complete the Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles Quest. Speak to Chalmet in the Materials Office to initiate the quest. Once completed, access the Energy Terminal beside Chalmet and aim it at the Cipher Puzzle on the opposite wall to reveal Cipher Letter (I).
Cipher Puzzle #6: The Final Clue
The last Cipher Puzzle awaits in the Central Laboratory Ruins area. Teleport to the waypoint north of the area and glide down to the basement. Locate the Ousia Block, pick it up, and use it to disable the Pneuma on the Energy Storage Block near the entrance. Activate the Energy Terminal and aim it at the Viewfinder and Cipher Puzzle. Follow the energy transfer process to unveil Cipher Letter (IV).
Completing all six Cipher Puzzles grants players the Hidden Achievement “The Calendar of the Future is Longer Than the Diary of the Past,” adding to the lore of Genshin Impact’s Version 4.1.
