Blizzard Responds to Player Feedback, Enhances Dracthyr Ability in Upcoming WoW Patch

World of Warcraft enthusiasts:
Dracthyr players can expect a notable change as Blizzard rethinks and enhances the Soar racial ability in Patch 10.2.5. The revision seeks to reinstate the original allure of the Soar ability while aligning it with the expansion’s evolving gameplay.
During the development phase of Dragonflight, the Evoker class exclusive to Dracthyr showcased enticing abilities. Notably, the Soar ability allowed players to efficiently traverse landscapes outside the Dragon Isles, offering unparalleled convenience—especially for farming old raids. However, this advantage sparked imbalance concerns within the World of Warcraft community, prompting Blizzard to tone down the Soar ability upon the expansion’s launch.
Despite initial disappointment over the nerf:
Dragonflight provided engaging content, notably the exhilarating dragonriding feature. Using the Dragon Isles as a testing area, developers assess the viability of incorporating dragonriding as a recurring game element.

In light of the forthcoming “The War Within” expansion and the evolving dynamic flight feature, Blizzard has revisited the Soar ability. Patch 10.2.5, dubbed “Seeds of Renewal,” introduces an upgraded version of Soar for Dracthyr characters. The reworked ability, detailed in the PTR Patch Notes on World of Warcraft forums, offers two new passive abilities: “Empowered Soaring” and “Expedited Takeoff.” These enhancements transform Soar into a viable alternative to dragonriding across flight-supported zones.
To access the new Soar upgrade:
Dracthyr players must complete the Forbidden Reach starting experience and unlock dragonriding. The upgrade significantly reduces Soar’s cooldown from 5 minutes to 10 seconds and grants access to all dragonriding abilities while soaring. Players can preview these changes by accessing the Public Test Realms through the PTR client.
The upcoming Patch 10.2.5 is expected to incorporate several features teased at BlizzCon 2023, including Follower Dungeons, appearance options, and visual updates for Covenant abilities from Shadowlands. Additionally, players anticipate reclaiming Gilneas alongside Genn Greymane as Blizzard paves the way for the Worldsoul Saga.
