Pokemon GO enthusiasts are in for a treat as Niantic introduces Annihilape, the ultimate evolution of Mankey, on January 19. This addition signifies the ongoing effort by Niantic to incorporate Scarlet and Violet creatures into Pokemon GO, a journey that began in September.

Among the cross-gen evolutions introduced in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Annihilape has emerged as a fan favorite due to its prowess in raids, boasting high-powered attacks like Close Combat and damage-boosting moves akin to Focus Energy. Now, after 14 months since its initial release, this hard-hitting pocket monster is set to make its mobile debut.

To obtain Annihilape in Pokemon GO, trainers will need to follow a distinct evolution method. Niantic has chosen to tie its evolution to the requirement of defeating 30 Psychic- or Ghost-type Pokemon in battle while having Primeape equipped as a Buddy. Evolving a shiny Primeape will result in a shiny Annihilape, showcasing a slightly darker but equally formidable version of the “rage monkey Pokemon.”

How to Obtain Annihilape in Pokemon GO:

  1. Equip a Primeape that you wish to evolve as a Buddy.
  2. Defeat 30 Ghost- or Psychic-type Pokemon in battle.
  3. Your Primeape is now ready to evolve into Annihilape.

In contrast, the evolution process for Primeape into Annihilape in Poke-mon Scarlet and Violet was simpler, triggered by using the move Rage Fist 20 times, which the creature learned at level 35. However, in the mobile realm of Poke-mon GO, defeating 30 Ghost- or Psychic-type creatures will be a more strategic and time-consuming endeavor.

For those still seeking Mankey or Primeape, Niantic has planned special events from January 19 through January 24. This period will feature 3-star Primeape raids, increased Mankey spawn rates, and Field Research Tasks rewarding Mankey, providing ample opportunities for trainers to bolster their collections.

Annihilape, only the second Fighting/Ghost-type Poke-mon after Marshadow, introduces a unique dynamic to battles. While it possesses an additional weakness to Ghost-types compared to its devolutions, its dual typing positions it as a formidable adversary against other Fighting types, a common encounter in competitive play across various Pokemon games, including Pokemon GO. Prepare for the challenge as Annihilape makes its mark in the Pokemon GO universe.
