Rockruff, a distinct Pokémon species from the Alola region, has found its way into Pokémon Go, bringing along its various evolutions. While not all of Rockruff’s evolutionary forms are currently available in the game, you can acquire the existing ones by accumulating Rockruff candies. Here’s a breakdown of the Rockruff evolutions in Pokémon Go and how to obtain them.

How to Obtain Rockruff in Pokémon Go

Rockruff, classified as a Rock-type Pokémon with weaknesses to Fighting, Grass, Ground, Steel, and Water-type moves, boasts a Max CP of 1074 in Pokémon Go, with boosts during Partly Cloudy weather. Shiny Rockruff is also presently accessible in the game.

To secure Rockruff, the base form of its evolution, players can catch and defeat it in a 1-Star Raid. There’s also a chance of hatching Rockruff from a 10km Egg in Pokémon Go through incubation. Unfortunately, encountering a wild Rockruff is not an option for players.

Evolving Rockruff into Midnight Lycanroc

Evolving Rockruff into Midnight Lycanroc necessitates the use of 50 Rockruff Candy. The evolution must occur during nighttime in the game, as indicated by the dark sky. Checking the in-game sky will help confirm the suitable time for the evolution.

Evolving Rockruff into Midday Lycanroc

Similarly, evolving Rockruff into Midday Lycanroc requires 50 Candy, but the evolution should take place during daylight hours. Observing the in-game sky for brightness will guide players to evolve their Pokémon at the right time.

Dusk Lycanroc and Future Developments

As of now, the Dusk Lycanroc form is not available in Pokémon Go. However, game data indicates its existence, hinting at a potential introduction in the future.

Midday Lycanroc vs. Midnight Lycanroc in Pokémon Go

While deciding between Midday and Midnight Lycanroc, both being pure Rock-type Pokémon with comparable stats, players face a choice. Midnight Lycanroc boasts lower Attack but compensates with higher Defensive and Stamina stats. Additionally, it features a more favorable moveset, including the effective Fast Move Counter and Charged Move Psychic Fangs.

Despite these considerations, neither form ranks as a top-tier Rock-type Pokémon in Pokémon Go. Both Midnight and Midday Lycanroc fall behind other notable Rock-type Pokémon like Aerodactyl, Tyranitar, Gigalith, Tyrantrum, Rhyperior, and Rampardos. In the Great League, Midnight Lycanroc stands at 350th place, while Midday Lycanroc ranks 848th, according to PvPoke. As such, their utility in the Go Battle League is limited.

Rockruff and its evolutions bring a unique dynamic to Pokémon Go, offering players a distinctive experience in their quest for these Rock-type companions.
